Baby Loggerhead Turtles had to be moved from their Gulf Coast homes before the hatched because the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico would lower their chance of survival.  Thousands of locals from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida helped to move the eggs before they hatched.  The eggs were moved to the Atlantic coast of Florida.

The author holds a bias against the oil spill and BP since he takes an interest in the kindness of the Gulf natives and their help to save sea turtles. This is a pro environmentalist article.

  1. This attempt to help the turtles is no very kind of the environmentalists to do, but one would pray that they did lots of research before performing the task. From what I remember, turtles are very territorial and return to the place of their birth, and if they were moved this could disrupt some sort of balance. Also, removing so many turtles from the food web in that area could be detrimental to the ecosystem. Finally, perhaps conditions in Florida will not be able to sustain the turtle's way of life.

  2. The author is definitely a turtle person which probably shows why he was biased. While the article is very informative and tells us a lot about the turtle people, the oil spill isn't the most important thing here. The oil spill certainly hurt the turtles but I think turtles have always been endangered so really the author shows a lot of bias when he blames it on BP.
